Let’s talk about…Human Behavior

Everyday we hear about things people have said, done, have not done or have only thought of doing. Wikipedia refers to human behavior as “the array of every physical action and observable emotion associated with individuals, as well as the human race as a whole. While specific traits of one’s personality and temperament may be more consistent, other behaviors will change as one moves from birth through adulthood.”

Dr. Larry Crabb states that “Men are easily threatened.  And whenever a man is threatened, when he becomes uncomfortable in places within himself that he does not understand, he naturally retreats into an arena of comfort or competence, or he dominates someone or something in order to feel powerful.”  (From “The Silence of Adam”, , p.28)

It is well known that our temperament determines how we react to people, places and things. In short, it is how people interact with their environments and the world around them. Temperament pinpoints our perception of ourselves and the people who love us. It is also the determining factor in how well we handle the stresses and pressures of life.

The way a man perceives himself, his world and God will determine how he will behave. These perceptions are founded in the temperament. Therefore, on the basis of this premise, the temperament is the determining factor of who we are. However, our environment and our relationship with God determines who we will become.

“Why Do We Do the Things We Do” will examine human behavior from many different perspectives as life happens. We will look at current news and events and attempt to give a thought provoking perspective on human behavior. There is one thing that we can be assured of…all human behavior begins with a thought!
